Due to both player interest and murdergame newbies who might be curious about how they'd play in the more intense settings, we've decided to open up an official test drive. This is in lieu of a mock trial, as we know a good deal of players are considering testing out multiple muses before the game start. This test drive will remain open until the game itself opens in June.

Foolish Mortals is, of course, open to Disney characters only - and the same rules apply here. Characters who don't fit this criteria may find themselves being removed from the test drive, for consistency purposes. If you have any questions, please feel free to consult our FAQ here. Please list your character's name (canon also recommended) in the header of your top-level prompt.

Here are some examples to get you started:

1 - Waking Up
You find yourself awoken in a dreary little bed that creaks and squeaks far too much for your liking. The room is run-down and decrepit, and cobwebs practically coat the particularly tacky wallpaper. It's...unnerving, to say the least, and you should probably get out of there. Sadly, it doesn't look like the rest of the mansion is any cleaner, but...perhaps you'll find others in similar circumstances?

2 - Killing Time
If we must kill something, it might as well be your boredom. It doesn't seem, however, that the mansion has quite a lot to offer in the way of entertainment. There's an old projector with creepy silent film reels, a ballroom, a portrait gallery, a conservatory (filled with dead plants) and...a seance room. Might be best to stay away from that one, especially since it feels like you're being watched...

3 - Happy Haunts
There's...stillness in the air. Occasionally, you might notice some sort of unexplainable oddity. A piano might begin to play itself in your presence, or dishes and silverware might reaarange themselves when you're not looking. The eyes on portraits might even follow you around, until you notice them. Perhaps it's worth investigation, or perhaps you're better off just screaming and running away. Your call.

4 - Formal Ball
It should be known that your Ghost Host just loves throwing parties. Indeed, it appears that he's called a mandatory one in the ballroom...on Thursday night. You should throw on your best formal attire, and try to have a good time. It should be mentioned, of course, that the motive this week appears to be getting on everyone's nerves. It doesn't really help matters that it'd be so easy to take someone out if you just flipped the lights off...have fun.

5 - Body Discovery

The smell of deer carcass fills the air. Though you didn't know her very well, it appears that Bambi's Mom is dead, and one of you is responsible. Better investigate the mansion for clues, and hope you don't mess this up...

6 - Et Cetera, Et Cetera, Et Cetera
For all the prompts you want to do but we haven't listed.

Keep in mind that posting in the test drive does not represent a commitment to join our game. You're welcome to play here even if you can't app. Playing here does not guarantee a slot in the game, nor does it count as a reserve. However, you're welcome to use up to 20 comments here from your character on the test drive should you app them later, in lieu of a sample.

Remember, reserves for the game will be opening on June 2nd.

Lady Eboshi | Princess Mononoke

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-17 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
2 - Killing Time

[The inconvenience of this strange mansion is not without its diversions, it must be said, and Lady Eboshi can be found lingering in any one of them, but none are so intriguing as the projector room. In silent study with a somewhat furrowed brow, she tests how the film reels move, how the light turns on, the switches and gears - while she's not too familiar with this sort of machinery, it's clear she's had experience handling some things, because she's not giving up until she can get one of the movies to play.] it moves this way, and...

[Want to watch her struggle for a while, or are you kind enough to give a lady a hand?]

4 - Formal Ball

[Sure, the motive is beastly, but is Lady Eboshi ruffled? Not that any of you can tell. She's dressed quite nicely and holds herself with a poised air. She may not be dancing, but she'll greet anyone who looks her way with a genteel smile.]

Enjoying the festivities?

[She seems fine enough to hang around with, but do be warned that underneath all that silk, she's packing steel. You don't come to something like this in such a place unarmed, after all, do you?]

5 - Body Discovery

...What a shame. Poor thing.

[Lady Eboshi has knelt by the slain doe, mouth set as she carefully takes stock of the injuries. Dead animals aren't an unfamiliar sight - people need to eat after all, and forests aren't cleared without bloodshed - but the deer hadn't done a single one of them harm. If you seem faint or disgusted, she'll part with the body to usher you someplace less corpse-y, but if you've got the stomach to handle a carcass, she'll welcome the help.]

[Lady Eboshi is doing much better than Moana had with the machinery. But through watching her start to discover certain things, she started to have ideas of her own.]

Ooh! I think it's suppose to turn this way. Then this stuff would feed through... here?

[At least by what logic she can assign to this strange machine. But she's not gonna give up. Because she really wants to see this thing work... if it does.]
powertobite: (Affable contemplation)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-18 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
[And the Lady feels the same.]

That might be it, yes. But then where does the rest of it go...

[Want to help feed the film through the slot to see where it comes out?]
truecalling: (pic#11140885)

[personal profile] truecalling 2017-03-18 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. Let's just... try putting this through here...

[Yep she's going to help feed it through. They're going to figure this out yet, no matter what.]
powertobite: (Inspection)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-18 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
[They're two ladies on a mission! It's going to happen. Feeding it through, and...ah, there it is! Popped out just enough to see that it's being guided onto this other empty wheel on here.]

Ah, there it it must go through the box, and then a light shines through...

[She fiddles with the switch, and the projector turns somewhat on. The picture that comes up is halfway between two pictures of some kind of reminder, but the wheels don't turn.]

...I was not expecting that.

[Anna wasn't comfortable with such a large group in the best of times let alone after such a motive. She really couldn't have been blamed for being nervous. She practically jumps at the question.]

Ah--yes, ma'am.

[Oh god.]
powertobite: (Oh you know)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-18 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[So nervous...there's nothing to fear, dear, you don't seem the type to start anything.]

What a strange choice of activity to make mandatory. One almost expects the spirits of this house to emerge to join us for a dance. Though, I think we've both had enough of spirits to last a lifetime. Wouldn't you say?
outsidethecircle: (I like to eat in school by myself)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-03-20 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
[She just doesn't like large crowds, honestly. At least she doesn't seem to be in any danger.]

They're probably just waiting for us to relax and then shut off the lights. [She nods quickly.] I don't like these ghosts at all.

[What happened to friendly ghosts? That don't scare you.]
powertobite: (Oh you know)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-20 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
And then what? Expect someone to attack in the dark? The attacker would run into a wall before getting away.

[It's not like we have somebody under the floor with knives or anything.]

No, I don't like them either...but then again, spirits and I don't have a very amiable history.
outsidethecircle: (Growing up)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-03-23 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Unless they wanted to do it themselves.

[The ghosts, she means. They could see in the dark, right?]

I didn't really believe in them until I got here.
powertobite: (Oh you know)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-23 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? They're very common in the forests around Iron Town.

[Common and a goddamn hindrance.]

Though they're much more animal-like than whatever lurks here.
outsidethecircle: (And I'll be just fine on the outside.)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-03-28 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I've only heard about them in stories.

[Except not but hey. She wouldn't be a protag in a ghost story if she believed in ghosts right off the bat.]

rollerscoater: Gasping. (oh crap)

[personal profile] rollerscoater 2017-03-18 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... oh, the poor dear. She did nothing to anybody.
powertobite: (Affable contemplation)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-18 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Which makes this all the more cruel.

[Though deer never did anything to hunters, that was the nature of things, the needs of man in a hard world. This? This is far removed from such a situation.]

Will you be alright, Miss Bianca? I can understand if you'd rather not stay by her at the moment.
rollerscoater: Pleading with concern. (when the chairman is sexist)

[personal profile] rollerscoater 2017-03-18 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Please, let me help you investigate! That horrible host and whoever did this will get just what they want unless we find out what happened.
powertobite: (Affable contemplation)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-19 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[A nod.] Alright. I won't stop you, then. But the moment you feel that you can't go on, don't feel obliged to stay.

[She's a mouse but she's also a lady, and not every lady can handle dead bodies. It's cool.]
rollerscoater: Pitying look. (nope)

[personal profile] rollerscoater 2017-03-19 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[She's gonna approach cautiously, then, and look at the traces of pixie dust in the fur from the other threads.]

Strange. Nothing in a dark place like this usually sparkles.
powertobite: (Inspection)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-19 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Huh yeah, isn't that unusual. Eboshi carefully pinches a few flecks from the fur, rubbing it between her fingers and looking at it real closely.]

It's finer than sand, or bits of gold...but it shines splendidly. And it must get everywhere if you're not careful. Where could it have come from...?
rollerscoater: Surprised. (pirate disco going on here)

[personal profile] rollerscoater 2017-03-19 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It could be from somebody's clothes, don't you think?

Absolutely not! He calls this a "formal ball" - hah! This might be formal, but there aren't even any balls in here! No baseballs, soccer balls, nothing!

[thank you for your astute observation, hatter]

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-20 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Give her a second to stare at your observation before Eboshi laughs. It's a rather unexpected, undignified sound from such a lady, but it's honest.]

No, I suppose there are not! Do tell me, Mister Hatter, what balls would you prefer to find instead?
cleancup: (pic#11150534)

[personal profile] cleancup 2017-03-20 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there are bowling balls, tennis balls, cricket balls, volleyballs, mothballs - those don't work, you know. My mothballs were always the most classy of affairs, but they served to attract moths, rather than repel them. When you want to keep them from messing with your hats, it's quite the dilemma!
powertobite: (Glad to see you)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-21 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I imagine it would be! Did you bring it up to the person whom you got them from?
cleancup: (pic#11153842)

[personal profile] cleancup 2017-03-21 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't get them from anyone, I used to hold them! There was music and dancing and everything, but it didn't help with keeping them away and all!
powertobite: (Oh you know)

[personal profile] powertobite 2017-03-21 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh - you held mothballs, I see.

[Balls for moths. Clever, very clever.]

Perhaps they thought you held them specifically for them to come calling.
